Team Manager Expectations
Team Managers keep our season running smoothly by handling communication, scheduling, and logistics so coaches can focus on the players. Thank you for volunteering!
Communication
- Serve as the main contact between coaches, parents, and the LFYH
- Ensure the team knows what is going on - share weekly schedule updates and announcements
- Use approved tools like Crossbar or TeamReach
- Communicate clearly, promptly, and positively - in this role you are an extension of the LFYH
Scheduling & Logistics
- Confirm and share practice/game schedules
- Verify game times / locations on opposing team websites to ensure accuracy
- Schedule and track scorekeepers, timekeepers, penalty boxes and locker room monitors for events. This includes away game penalty box workers if playing out of league
- Keep families informed of any changes
Game Day & Tournaments
- Have digital version of your USA Hockey roster available if needed, bring roster stickers if playing outside of MN Hockey.
- Manage jersey colors and team check-in
- Handle tournament registration, hotel blocks, and payments such as ice time or refs (as needed)
Home Tournaments/ Jamborees
- Serve as the point of contact for your team and visiting managers
- Ensure score sheets are completed and turned in after each game
- Keep the schedule, standings, and brackets updated (if assigned)
- Check locker rooms before/after use for cleanliness
- Make sure volunteers show up per the work schedule and positions are covered
- Support the tournament director as needed and help address any issues quickly and professionally
Team Culture
- Support a positive, inclusive team environment
- Model and reinforce good sportsmanship
- Communicate program policies clearly to families
End of Season
- Help organize team celebrations if desired
- Return jerseys and equipment
- Share thank-you's and wrap-up communication
